The YMCA pool is an outdoor pool operating from Memorial Day - Labor Day each season.

Swim Lessons

There is a reason why the YMCA is referred to as America’s favorite swim instructor.  In YMCA classes, children are taught to swim in a caring way.  Learning water activities and a sport can change their lives.  Youth swim lessons are progressive — each level builds upon the preceding level.  Lessons focus on stroke development, diving fundamentals, water safety, personal growth and fun.  Each child is unique and is encouraged to progress and their own level.  ALL STUDENTS WILL BE TESTED ON THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS.

Registration for 2008 begins April 19.  Register between April 19-25 and receive $5 off each lesson.  Phone registrations are not accepted.

Qualifications :
Using any stroke, child must be able to swim one length of the pool without stopping, standing or holding onto anything.  Swimmers who are not ready to join the team are encouraged to be part of our “Pre-Team.”  Members of the Pre-Team will look toward becoming members of the team by working toward the goal of competing in swim meets before the season is over.

Swim Meets:
Meets are held on weekday evenings, generally on Tuesday and Thursday.  Participation in meets is not required, but is highly encouraged.  However, it IS REQUIRED that all participants fill out a Swim Meet availability worksheet and turn it in on or before the first day of practice.  This enables the coaches to better prepare line-ups ahead of time and avoids the last minute switching of participants.  The YMCA has a long-standing tradition of great swimming programs which we hope will continue well into the future.
