YMCA 2008 Day Camp Information

How to Register—To register for any of our four camps, complete the registration form on the next page.  Current YMCA Before/After School participants and YMCA members may begin enrolling for camp on February 15, 2008.  Open registration begins April 12, 2008.  Registration fees must be paid.  For Eureka camp, registration is due no later than May 1.  For all other camps, registration is due at least two weeks prior to the child beginning camp.  Space is limited so please enroll as early as possible.

Camp Staff—All staff are chosen for their maturity and experience working with young campers. Staff are young men and women who are 16 years old and older, possessing a positive attitude, energy, and enthusiasm. Each Day Camp staff member receives specific training prior to the camp season.

YMCA Philosophy—The philosophy at the Greater Peoria Family YMCA remains to help participants grow spiritually, mentally, and physically. This is done by conducting and supporting programs which foster responsible citizenship, healthy lifestyles, environmental understanding, international understanding and cooperation, concern for others, and respect for individual differences. And our YMCA, as always, continues to build strong kids, strong families, strong communities.

What to Bring—Campers should wear appropriate clothing to be outdoors and tennis shoes.  No sandals or flip-flops are allowed.  Each camper should bring swim suit, towel, sunscreen and water bottle daily.  Please mark all items with your camper’s name.

Hours of Service—Camp opens each day at 7:00 a.m. and closes at 5:30 p.m.  The actual camp program runs from 9:00 a.m.—4:00 p.m.  Please have your camper arrive by 9:00 a.m. each day.  This is very important for our lunch count.  If your camper will be late, notify his/her counselor.

Ratios—Our primary goal for your child is a positive experience in a safe environment.  To achieve this goal, no more than 10 campers are assigned to each counselor.

For your fee—Your weekly fee includes lunch each day, three days minimum of pool time, morning and afternoon snacks, crafts, reading, free time, sports, fitness and a field trip.  We are confidant that we provide the best value in town for your money.  Tucked in the heart of the city, your child will feel as if he/she is in the country on our nature-lined campus.

Payment Policy— Payment is due in full for the week on Monday that service is provided.  All checks should be made payable to the YMCA.  You are responsible for payment in full for all sessions and days you are registered according to the registration form.  To withdraw or change your registration status, you must complete a Change of Status form or provide other written confirmation at least one week in advance.  Without a written change or withdrawal, you will be billed for the sessions/days you are registered.

Registration Fee—There is a registration fee of $35 for each registered camper.  If you are registering more than one child in your immediate family, the fee is $25 for additional children.  This fee is waived for YMCA members and current YMCA Before/After School program attendees.

Weekly Fees—Campers register to attend each weekly session for two days, three days or five days.  Parents are billed according to the commitment made on the registration form.  Any change in attendance requires completion of a change of status form and a minimum of a week’s notice:  Two days/week = $60; Three days/week = $90; Five days/week = $125

Each additional camper in an immediate family receives 10% off of the fee listed above:  Two days/week = $54; Three days/week = $81; Five days/week = $113

Swim lessons—Swim lessons are available for an additional fee.  Campers taking swim lessons should arrive  no later than 7:45 a.m. each day of lessons.  Separate registration and payment is required for swim lessons.  Please indicate on the registration form that you would like information sent to you.  Because we are in and around the YMCA pool almost every day, we encourage you to enroll your child in swim lessons for his/her safety.  The Aquatics Director offers swim lessons to our campers who are not members at the member price as an added benefit.
