An Afrocentric Rite of Passage Program
Grades 5th - 8th / middle
school students at Roosevelt Magnet School
The Youth Achievers program is to designed
to strengthen positive self-esteem among young children through a
culturally specific curriculum based on the philosophy of "Afro
centrism". The program uses Minority Achievers for leadership
development and career orientation activities for students in grades 5-8.
The Youth Achievers program enhance those program models by getting youth
involved in positive activities at an earlier age and by developing a core
group of participants that can "graduate" to traditional
Minority Achievers program opportunities. Participants meet during
the school year every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.
Contact Philicia Moredock, Youth Services Director at 671-2702 for more
information.
