YMCA programs are full of excitement and challenge. The staff plan each day with new and exciting activities that develop the YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.
Children will experience activities in eight core content areas (arts & humanities, character development, health, wellness and fitness, homework support, literacy, competence and conflict resolution) that are consistent with the YMCA mission.
The YMCA has been providing a before and after care program to area children for more thna 20 years. We provide a safe, nurturing environment for after school hours and have access, through the YMCA, to endless information on youth programs. Planned activities include:
Special speakers to address 'tween' issues and encourage discussion of concerns, problems
Service projects helping them learn to give back to their community
Red Cross programs such as first aid, CPR and babysitting
Youth Fitness program currently conducted in Peoria Public Schools District 150
Homework help and mentoring.
